Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Don't start lining up just yet. In what may qualify as the longest lead time ever in relation to the opening of a store, NorthPark Center has announced Zara will debut at the mall in, wait for it, the fall of 2016. Until then, enjoy going to the Galleria store via the nightmare that is 635. (Hey—no fair. By 2016, the highway may actually be finished!)

But back to Zara. The Spanish retailer got its start in 1975, and now has more than 1,700 stores worldwide. If you're unfamiliar with the brand, think H&M but with more of a continental European flair. New designs frequently arrive in stores weekly, ensuring customers are up-to-date on the latest trends. By almost-2017, this might be a giant fashion moot point: Won't we all be wearing spacesuits (and valet parking our flying vehicles)?
