From Highland Park Village today comes word that the anticipated Hermès expansion has begun. The store that first opened in the center in 1985 is adding a second-floor showroom to showcase the brand's furniture and housewares. Expect the project to last through February 2015, and until then, the boutique has a temporary location at 51 Highland Park Village.

In related business, the frothy rumor-mill (cappuccino, anyone?) is abuzz with talk that Wichita, Kansas-based, New York City-mainstay Dean & DeLuca may just be the "gourmet grocery" that Highland Park Village owner Ray Washburne was alluding to last week. With Chanel—again, rumored—to take over the old Williams-Sonoma spot, it would leave a high-profile, Preston Road-visible space...perfectly primed for overpriced charcuterie.
