Welcome to Beach Reads, a summer feature where we ask Dallas-area bookstore owners to pick three of their favorite summer-season page-turners.
Forty Five Ten, Five & Ten, Number One and Chapter Two owner Brian Bolke clearly likes his numbers. But Bolke is also partial to the written word—and he harbors a great love for photography too. His Chapter Two is a treasure trove of what many would label "coffee-table books," but Bolke's picks prove that the titles are more than just pretty things.
- "I collect photography and this book has fantastic images from movie stars to rock stars to unknowns," says Bolke. "The images are fabulous."
- "Moncada’s images of this iconic German model vary from staged to informal candids, and they personify La Dolce Vita. It’s the perfect summer book to lose yourself in when you need to get away."
- "We are always on the lookout for our next vacation, and what better way to decide where to go than with a little help from the world’s best chefs? And if you can’t go there, the book includes the recipes as well. Kind of the best of both worlds."
