Primarily known for its colorful and whimsical watches and leather goods, Richardson-based Fossil is getting into the fragrance game. According to WWD, the brand will release a men's and women's scent called 1954 this Sunday, Aug. 17.
The fragrances have been in development for two years, and were created by International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. The women's scent is a bright mixture of grapefruit and mandarin, with a splash of cedar, white amber and bamboo.
"Our women are a little tomboyish," said Tom Kennedy, executive vice president of Fossil brand product development, to WWD. "She wears her boyfriend's watch not just because it looks good but because it's easy to read. We represent that spirit by adding sandalwood and cedar to her fragrance."
The men's potion, 1954 for Men, is a mixture of woody notes and fresh bursts of lemon and cardamom. The fragrances will sell for $60 (50 ml).
